Spring Fundraiser — Water & Drought Program

Join the CVA this week as we kick off April with a virtual Spring Fundraiser benefiting our Water and Drought Awareness Program! The Water and Drought Awareness Program was launched in 2018 to increase drought resiliency in the Centennial Valley by delivering drought mitigation tools and resources to the community, while also building information-sharing capacity. To achieve this, we’ve set three priorities:

  1. Increasing drought awareness and education throughout the community by sharing resources and events from other partners/groups.

  2. Expanding hydrological monitoring infrastructure and efforts in the Centennial Valley to better understand hydrological patterns.

  3. Disseminating monitoring data and other information in a concise format for stakeholders and members of the community to make effective land management decisions that work for them, for future generations.

Since the program’s inception, CVA program staff have developed numerous Water Reports that contain a clear and concise summary of all the hydrological monitoring occurring in the valley, including the work of our partners. CVA has strategically placed seven (7) rain gauges on the valley floor to collect precipitation data, as well as collaborating with local partners and neighbors to collect data from their rain gauges. Staff have also partnered and supported Montana FWP with streamflow measurements to help with Arctic grayling habitat assessments and to share that streamflow data with the community.

CVA is excited to continue to provide this program for the community! We are looking for your help to raise $5,000 for the program this week. To support the on-the-ground staff and the Water and Drought Awareness Program, please donate, share, or volunteer with us this year! If you’d like to know more about this program, check out the program webpage!

We thank you for your support!
